Türkiye is encouraging Indian travellers to explore destinations featured in Bollywood films, positioning familiar on-screen locations as entry points for travel across the country.
By highlighting these locations, Türkiye is linking film familiarity with travel planning, encouraging visitors to experience destinations they have previously seen on screen.

Over the past two decades, Türkiye has become a recurring backdrop for Indian cinema, with scenes filmed across cities, coastlines and historic landmarks. This exposure has contributed to a level of recognition among Indian audiences, many of whom have encountered the country through film before visiting in person.
The country’s varied landscapes – from Ottoman architecture and historic bazaars to coastal settings and volcanic terrain – have supported a wide range of film productions. This diversity has allowed filmmakers to use Türkiye as a setting for multiple storylines, reinforcing its presence across different genres.
İstanbul remains one of the most frequently featured locations, with landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the Bosphorus and the Maiden’s Tower appearing in several productions. Films including Ek Tha Tiger, Baby and Dil Dhadakne Do have used the city’s streets and waterfronts, while Guru featured a sequence filmed at Nuruosmaniye Mosque.
Cappadocia has also gained visibility through its distinctive landscape of rock formations, cave dwellings and hot air balloon-filled skies. Productions such as Durga have utilised the region’s terrain, contributing to its recognition among Indian audiences.
Along the Mediterranean coast, Antalya and Bodrum have provided settings for films including Race and Ek Tha Tiger, combining historical sites with resort destinations. These locations continue to attract travellers seeking a mix of cultural and coastal experiences.
Türkiye’s position as a filming destination has been supported by infrastructure and policies aimed at facilitating international productions. Projects such as Laal Singh Chaddha, filmed across İstanbul, Adana and Mount Demirkazık, reflect ongoing collaboration with the film industry.
