IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Yashvi Greenco to develop a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Surat, marking its entry into the city.

The hotel will have 110 rooms and is expected to serve corporate travellers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and transit guests. Surat, known for its diamond and textile industries, has seen continued economic growth supported by industrial activity and infrastructure development.

Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s largest brand globally, with more than 3,200 hotels. The brand focuses on standardised accommodation designed for short stays, with features such as workspaces and simplified services aimed at business and leisure travellers.

The Surat property will follow the brand’s Generation 5 design, which includes updated interiors and flexible work areas.

IHG said the project aligns with its plans to expand in secondary and emerging cities in India, where demand for branded accommodation is growing alongside business travel.

“India remains a key strategic growth market for IHG, and we have ambitious plans to further strengthen our presence across high-growth secondary and emerging commercial cities. Surat continues to benefit from strong industrial activity and progressive infrastructure development, making it an attractive destination for branded hospitality. Bringing our globally loved mainstream brand to the city aligns with our strategy to expand in markets with sustained business and transit demand,” said Sudeep Jain, managing director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“With IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Holiday Inn Express brand, we are confident the hotel will become a preferred choice for business and transit travellers in the market,” added Paresh Khandelwal, managing partner, Yashvi Greenco.
